So, my friend, who owns Maverick's Donut Company here in Edmonton, hit me up to help create a Halloween-themed ad for his shops in Manning and Ellerslie. With Halloween creeping up fast, Maverick’s is going all out, and I was more than ready to help bring the spooky vibes to their social media.
He sent me some great photos of their Halloween donuts, so I quickly began. I dove into writing a script that brought out a playful and eerie vibe, all while showing off Maverick’s new Halloween treats. To make the ad pop even more, we went with a Halloween-inspired font, and creepy sounding music. After that, I recorded the voiceover myself to keep it personal and friendly (turns out, I also really like doing voiceover work).
This ad hits all the right notes to attract donut lovers. By tapping into the Halloween spirit, Maverick’s isn’t just offering Halloween donuts in Edmonton - they’re inviting customers to celebrate the season with treats they can’t find anywhere else.
The 20ish-second video is tailor-made for social media, with a portrait orientation perfect for Instagram Reels and TikTok. The Halloween decor and donut designs are eye-catching, drawing viewers in and encouraging them to stop by for a taste:
By mentioning both Manning and Ellerslie locations in the script, we gave the ad a welcoming, local touch that reinforces Maverick’s roots in Edmonton and draws in nearby residents.
The ad wraps up with a call-to-action to either drop by in person, or order a batch through Uber Eats or Skip the Dishes, making it super convenient to enjoy these festive treats at home.
